Officials report another US-mediated round is planned for September after repeated recent talks, so an Israel-Lebanon diplomatic meeting by the deadline is highly likely.
The strongest forward-looking reports say the US-mediated political track will reconvene in Rome in early September, following repeated recent meetings. The evidence is not uniformly positive: the latest round made little progress, fighting disrupted scheduling, and no date was set as of August 31. Even so, the question requires a diplomatic meeting rather than an agreement, and both governments remain engaged in a standing US-backed process. That makes another in-person round before the end of September highly likely despite scheduling friction.
