Will Jay Collins finish second in the Florida Republican Governor primary?
Every credible August poll places Jay Collins a clear second behind Donalds and well ahead of Fishback and Renner, so Collins finishing second is highly likely.
The evidence consistently points to Collins as the only serious challenger to Donalds. A JMI poll from early August showed Donalds at 49 percent, Collins at 18 percent, Renner at 8 percent, and Fishback at 4 percent. Florida Politics reported a polling average around the same time of Donalds 47.5 percent, Collins 13.5 percent, Fishback 9 percent, and Renner 4.5 percent. Another July survey also placed Collins second at 9 percent, still ahead of Fishback and Renner. Funding reinforces the hierarchy: Collins had about $430,000 remaining in mid-August, while Fishback had under $150,000 and Renner about $135,000, with Donalds holding over $111 million. One outlier social media post predicted Fishback second and Collins third or fourth, but it stands alone against multiple surveys and reporting. The election resolves by ranking valid votes with alphabetical tie-breaking, and Collins's polling gap over the rest of the field makes a tie for second extremely unlikely. Given the election is imminent and the data is stable, Collins finishing second is highly likely.
