Will the WTI crude oil settlement price be above 90.99 USD/Bbl on Sep 4, 2026?
WTI is trading just above $90.99 after the latest futures settlement cleared that mark, so a September 4 October-contract settlement above it is favored but far from guaranteed.
WTI enters settlement day at $91.1945, only narrowly above the $90.99 threshold. The latest futures settlement also finished above the mark, while depleted inventories and continuing conflict around the Strait of Hormuz support prices. The cushion is thin, however, and recent intraday ranges, rising Iraqi exports, and resistance near current levels leave substantial room for a late reversal. An above-threshold October-contract settlement is therefore favored but far from guaranteed.
- WTI begins settlement day above the resolution threshold, providing a small initial cushion. On September 4, WTI was quoted at $91.1945, about $0.20 above the $90.99 threshold.
- The latest reported futures settlement finished above the threshold.U.S. crude oil futures settled at $91.30 per barrel on September 3, $0.31 above the threshold.
- Low inventories and intense refinery demand support near-term crude prices. In the week ending August 28, U.S. commercial crude inventories fell by 4.5 million barrels while refineries operated at 98% of capacity.
- WTI is trading inside a resistance area that could cap further gains or trigger a reversal. On September 3, WTI encountered a cited technical resistance area between $90 and $92.
- Rising Iraqi exports add supply and reduce support for prices near the threshold.Iraq exported about 2.34 million barrels per day in August, up from about 1.35 million in July, and officials expected another increase in September.
