Google has announced Gemini 4 Argon, named the next customer groups, and is preparing a full launch.
Google officially announced Gemini 4 Argon on September 30, 2026, and has since said it intends to make the model available to developers, enterprises and consumers as soon as possible, with paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers first in the wider release. Reporting on October 4 described the company preparing for a coming full launch, and Google disputed claims that the model was underperforming in coding. The visible evidence as of October 8 nevertheless leans against a release already having happened: no public-access date, no public waitlist, no Gemini 4 Argon model ID in the API changelog, no listing on the API models page, no mention in the Gemini app release notes, and usable access still confined to internal teams and vetted cyber defenders in the Fairwind program. Google itself ties broad availability to completing frontier safeguard work and describes a phased rollout because of the model's scale. The constructive view therefore does not rest on current news; it rests on the shape of the launch Google has already described. This is a staged rollout in which external testers, then named paying customer groups, are brought in ahead of general availability, and in recent generations the gap between that stage and public access has been measured in days. With four days left, the remaining step is small and entirely within Google's control, which is why public availability by October 14 remains favored despite the absence of an announced date. Markets currently treat this outcome as roughly even, and the strongest consideration behind the more constructive view here is Google's own stated intent to broaden access quickly, supported by reporting of a full launch being prepared, set against a deadline that leaves little room for further slippage.
